Oastlers School Vision Statement for Performing Arts

Intent

Oastler’s School understands the importance of Performing Arts and how the skills required to be successful in Performing Arts will allow the learners to gain confidence, build of self-esteem whilst learning and developing skills in Dance, Acting and Musical Theatre. This course requires learners to explore performance work but also encourage them to learn and develop their own skills.

Implementation

All learners will acquire technical knowledge and technical skills through vocational contexts by studying acting, dance or musical theatre as part of their Key Stage 4 learning. The qualification recognises the value of learning skills, knowledge and vocational attributes to complement GCSEs. The qualification will broaden the learners experience and understanding of the varied progression options available to them. Learners will be able to select which discipline they want to explore and expand their knowledge in that given discipline.

The BTEC Tech Award is a practical introduction to life and work in Performing Arts, you will develop an understanding of the sector and see whether it is an industry you would like to be in. You will develop skills in Acting, Dance and Musical Theatre exploring practitioners in all disciplines alongside creating your own performances. This will allow you to build confidence, develop team working skills and provide you with knowledge and skills in Performing Arts.
