Oastlers Music Department
Area of study
How learners are assessed
Learners are continuously assessed through a variety of different flexible disciplines which involves teacher observation, appraisal and review and live performance.
Oastlers is free to develop its own curriculum for music that best meet the needs of our learners. Our learners are encouraged to play musical instruments and sing a variety of songs from memory, adding accompaniments and creating short compositions, with increasing confidence, imagination and control.
Although flexible in nature lessons are structured to ensure that 'listening, and applying knowledge and understanding', are developed through the interrelated skills of 'performing'.
The school is able to offer BTEC Level 1/2 qualifications in music or NCFE Level 1/2 in Creative Skills (performance).
